Finland Materials and products that come into contact with domestic water
Decree of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health on the notification of conformity assessment bodies for products in contact with domestic water and hot water and on the hygienic suitability of products for use in water installations
It is proposed that the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) be designated as the notifying authority responsible for the following:
1. approve assessment bodies that can assess the conformity of products in contact with drinking water and domestic hot water;
2. notify the European Commission of the bodies it has recognised; and monitor the activities of the notified bodies.
The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency's Accreditation Unit's FINAS accreditation service should accredit conformity assessment bodies
The Decree would stipulate that a product in contact with domestic water and domestic hot water must comply with the specific minimum hygiene requirements required by Commission delegated acts adopted pursuant to Directive 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Commission on the quality of water intended for human consumption.
The Decree would define what is meant by the national certificate of conformity, under which products in contact with water may continue to be made available on the market during the transitional period of EU regulations, i.e. from 31 December 2026 to 31 December 2032.
